Integration guide

Google Meet

Creates each live class as a Google Calendar event with a Meet link on the teacher’s own calendar, adds invited learners as guests, and moves or cancels the event when the class changes. Google does not provide attendance to this connection, so attendance is marked by the teacher.

What you need

  • Google Workspace (a personal Gmail account cannot be used).
  • A Google Cloud project with the Google Calendar API enabled.
  • A Google Workspace super administrator to set up domain-wide delegation.

Permissions requested and why

Permission or scopeWhat it allowsWhy it is needed
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.eventsView and edit events on all calendarsCreating, moving and cancelling each class on the teacher’s calendar. Granted through domain-wide delegation.

Bodhaka Lumen asks for nothing beyond this list. Credentials you enter are encrypted with your workspace’s own key and are never shown again after saving.

How to connect

  1. In Google Cloud Console, create a service account in a project with the Google Calendar API enabled, and create a JSON key for it.
  2. Copy the service account’s client ID (a long number).
  3. In the Google Admin console, open Security, API controls, Domain-wide delegation, and add that client ID with the scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.
  4. In Bodhaka Lumen, open Integrations, choose Google Meet in the guided setup, paste the key file’s contents and enter the host account’s email address.
  5. Select Try the connection. A 15 minute event called Connection test is put on the host account’s calendar for tomorrow, read back and deleted. It has no guests.
  6. Switch the integration on.

How to disconnect and delete data

  1. In Bodhaka Lumen, open Integrations, then My integrations, choose the Google Meet integration and select Remove. The stored service account key is deleted from your workspace.
  2. In the Google Admin console, open Domain-wide delegation and delete the client ID entry. In Google Cloud Console, delete the service account key or the service account. This revokes all access immediately.
  3. Calendar events already created stay on the teachers’ calendars until they are deleted there.

To have any data that came through this integration deleted from Bodhaka Lumen, your workspace administrator can delete it, or write to support@bodhakalumen.com. See the Privacy Policy.
