Integration guide

Turnitin

Sends a learner’s submitted file to Turnitin for a similarity check and brings the similarity report back to the teacher.

What you need

  • A Turnitin licence that includes API access (Turnitin Core API).
  • An API key and your Turnitin API address from Turnitin.

Permissions requested and why

Permission or scopeWhat it allowsWhy it is needed
API keyTurnitin Core API accessCreating a submission, uploading the file, asking for the similarity report and reading it.

Bodhaka Lumen asks for nothing beyond this list. Credentials you enter are encrypted with your workspace’s own key and are never shown again after saving.

How to connect

  1. Ask your Turnitin administrator for an API key and your institution’s API address.
  2. In Bodhaka Lumen, open Integrations, choose Turnitin, and enter them.
  3. Try the connection, then switch it on.

How to disconnect and delete data

  1. Remove the integration in Bodhaka Lumen. The stored key is deleted and nothing further is sent.
  2. Ask your Turnitin administrator to revoke the key.
  3. Files already submitted are held by Turnitin under your institution’s agreement with Turnitin. Ask Turnitin to delete them if required.

To have any data that came through this integration deleted from Bodhaka Lumen, your workspace administrator can delete it, or write to support@bodhakalumen.com. See the Privacy Policy.
